Happiness Socks or Happiness Bag Knitting Class
Time: Saturday, September 25, 10am – 1pm
Description: A St. John's Cross cable motif decorates both sides of the legs of these DK weight socks. This pattern can also be made as a pouch bag using worsted weight yarn. You will learn how to work free-standing cables.. The class will cost 35 dollars. There is some preclass knitting. Please choose to do EITHER the Socks OR the Pouch for the class.
For the SOCKS sized for an adult medium (8 inch ankle) three 50 g balls of sport weight or DK weight yarn 350 yards. Size 4 (3.5mm) DP or Circular Needles. Cable Needle. Tapestry Needle. Knitting tool bag. Gauge 7.5 sts per inch. The Sock is easiest to knit on two circular needles, or one, using the magic loop method. If you use DP needles it is best to use all 5 of the needles. Instructions for preclass knitting (starts at top of the leg): Cast On 56 stitches. Divide onto 2 circular needles. Join in round, being careful not to twist sts. Work k1, p1 ribbing for 7 rounds. Bring this on the needles to class.
For the POUCH BAG materials will be: Worsted Weight Yarn about 200 yards. Two US 7 (4.5mm) circular needles, cable needle, tapestry needle, and knitting tool bag. The gauge is 5 stitches (sts) per inch. Instructions for preclass knitting: Cast on 56 sts. Divide onto 2 circular needles. Join in a round, being careful not to twist sts. Work garter stitch (k1 round, p1 round) for 7 rounds. Bring this on the needles to class.
