Learn to Knit an Easy Sweater
A top-down, seamless Cardigan perfect for your first sweater! Fast, fun, and easy to make. This project would be perfect for anyone with basic knitting skills (knitting, purling, casting on, casting off) ready to move beyond scarves into the next step of knitting. You will learn skills such as: Raglan Sleeve, Picking up Stitches, using DP Needles, buttonholes, ribbing, and more!
The pattern is available for free on ravelry.com "Little Coffee Bean" by Elizabeth Smith for sizes 3 months, 6 months and 12 months (our model shown in 3 month size). But there is also a larger sized version available for a small charge "The Wonder Years Cardigan" which fits sizes 2-10 years old. You can make either in the class, to fit your little one. Materials: You will need between 300 and 600 yards of worsted weight yarn. Some choices in the shop that would work well would be Berroco Vintage, Ewe Ewe Superwash, Berroco Comfort or Malabrigo Rios. Needles: Size 7 - 24" circular knitting needles and 8 - 24" circular knitting needle and size 7 and 8 double pointed needles (or size to obtain gauge). Also: Stitch markers, scrap yarn, 5-7 approximately 3/4" Buttons, Tapestry Needle. When: 1st Session: Saturday November 1st from 10:30 AM - 12:30 2nd Session: Saturday November 8th from 10:30 AM - 12:30 We will start the sweater in class on November 1st then continue working on it through the second class.
